Assessment uses evidence gathered over time from student work, conversations and observations. The final grade for 2026–2027 is determined as follows:
| Component | Weight | How It Is Determined |
|---|---|---|
| Course work throughout the course | 65% | Evaluation evidence gathered throughout the course, with special consideration for consistent and more recent achievement. |
| Mandatory final evaluation — EQAO Grade 9 Mathematics Assessment | 20% | The mandatory EQAO Grade 9 Mathematics Assessment serves as the written final evaluation and is included within the 110 planned learning hours. |
| Attendance and participation | 15% | Based on meaningful engagement and participation in planned learning. |
Assessment may include conferences, oral explanations, math talks, demonstrations, learning logs, problem sets, quizzes, tests, investigations, coding tasks and the EQAO Grade 9 Mathematics Assessment.
The course builds mathematical and transferable skills connected to pathways and careers in science, technology, engineering, skilled trades, business, health sciences, social sciences and many other fields.
The course also develops transferable skills that can be applied in other subjects, postsecondary learning, community contexts and future employment.
