Students must earn a total of 30 credits toward the Ontario Secondary School Diploma. The mix of compulsory and optional credits depends on the year the student entered Grade 9.
Students complete optional credits based on their interests, academic goals, and future pathway. Students entering Grade 9 in 2024–25 or later require 13 optional credits; earlier cohorts generally require 12.
Students must complete at least 40 hours of approved community involvement activities before graduating. These experiences help students contribute to their communities while building valuable personal and professional skills.
Students must meet Ontario’s secondary school literacy graduation requirement. Most students do this by successfully completing the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT), normally taken in Grade 10.
Our admissions team can help you understand how your current education connects with applicable OSSD requirements and recommend the next steps for your situation.
