The following reflects the school’s planned organization of the course. Approximate time allocations may be adjusted while all curriculum expectations and required planned learning are maintained.
| Unit | Title / Major Learning Focus | Approx. Time |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Linear Systems and Forms of Linear Equations | 13 hours |
| 2 | Analytic Geometry: Slope, Lines and Line Segments | 11 hours |
| 3 | Geometric Properties and Verification | 14 hours |
| 4 | Quadratic Relations and Transformations | 15 hours |
| 5 | Quadratic Expressions and Factoring | 15 hours |
| 6 | Quadratic Equations and Applications | 15 hours |
| 7 | Trigonometry of Right Triangles | 13 hours |

Assessment uses evidence gathered over time from student work, conversations and observations. The final grade for 2026–2027 is determined as follows:
| Component | Weight | How It Is Determined |
|---|---|---|
| Course work throughout the course | 65% | Evaluations conducted throughout the course, reflecting the student's most consistent achievement with special consideration for more recent evidence. |
| Mandatory written final examination | 20% | Mandatory written final examination completed during the designated examination period. |
| Attendance and participation | 15% | Based on the full body of evidence of meaningful engagement and participation. |
Assessment may include diagnostic questions, assignments and problem sets, quizzes and unit tests, mathematical investigations, oral and written explanations, portfolios and final evaluations.
Teachers connect mathematics to pathways and careers in science, engineering, computer studies, business, finance, skilled trades, technology and many other fields. The course also provides the mathematical foundation for Grade 11 mathematics and builds transferable reasoning, problem-solving and communication skills.
The course also develops transferable skills that can be applied in other subjects, postsecondary learning, community contexts and future employment.
