Description
This Grade 11 university/college preparation mathematics course introduces basic features of functions by extending students’ experience with quadratic relations. Students investigate quadratic, exponential and trigonometric/sinusoidal functions, financial mathematics and real-world applications.
What You’ll Learn
- Expand and simplify quadratic expressions and solve quadratic equations.
- Analyze quadratic functions using function notation, domain, range, transformations and multiple forms.
- Represent and solve problems involving exponential functions, growth and decay.
- Apply compound interest, loans, savings and annuities in financial contexts.
- Use the sine law and cosine law to solve problems involving acute triangles.
- Analyze periodic relationships and model applications using sine functions.
Skills You’ll Develop
- Function representation and interpretation
- Algebraic reasoning and equation solving
- Graphing and transformations
- Financial mathematics and modelling
- Trigonometric problem solving and mathematical communication
